Sermon Synopsis
Week 1 — The Mission and the Method of the Table
Luke 19:1–10
Jesus didn’t avoid messy people—He moved toward them. In Luke 19, we meet Zacchaeus: a wealthy tax collector, rejected by his community and desperate for a glimpse of Jesus. But instead of condemnation, Zacchaeus receives an unexpected invitation: “I must stay at your house today.”
In this opening week of Life Around the Table, we’ll see that the Gospel often moves forward through ordinary tables, shared meals, and radical hospitality. Jesus doesn’t just save people from a distance—He sits with them, knows them, and transforms them through relationship. And as followers of Jesus, we’re invited to become the kind of people who make room at our tables for others too.
Because when Jesus pulls up a chair, lives change.
