What if the unity Jesus prayed for isn’t something we can manufacture—but something that happens as we draw closer to Him?

In John 17, on the night before the cross, Jesus prays not only for His disciples but for everyone who would one day believe in Him—including us. And what does He ask the Father for? “That they may all be one.”

But Jesus’ prayer goes even deeper. He doesn’t simply ask that we would get along better. He asks that we would be in Him—drawn into the love shared between the Father and the Son. Because the more we live loved, the more we live as one.

Like beams of light drawn toward the same source, the closer we get to Jesus, the closer we become to one another.
