Where do you have a false sense of security?

Samson knew his calling, and he still lived under no authority but his own appetites. In this message from Judges 16, the last chapter of Samson's life, we follow him to Gaza, to Delilah, to the prison mill, and to the temple of Dagon. We see how a lack of consequences creates a false sense of security, how our vices dull before they destroy, and the saddest line in the story: he did not know that the Lord had left him. But God heard Samson's prayer even in his enemy's temple, and God's redemptive plan was never derailed. Samson points us to Jesus, the true deliverer, who meets us, forgives us, and welcomes us home.
